Traffic flow subsystem - Hills M2/RTA

The Traffic Flow Subsystem (TFS) is used to monitor traffic flow and manage incidents/alarms detected on the Hills M2 motorway. The system is based on custom client/server framework with all configurations, runtime & historical data saved to a database. TFS application is used to get all required data to monitor/manage the Traffic flow, Alarms and incidents on the M2 motorway.

TFS application provides users with a graphical overview of M2 motorway in application's overview screen. This application provides following functionalities:

  • View the traffic condition on M2 Motorway and details of data coming from every TMU in Graphical format.
  • View status of individual Road Sections on M2 motorway indicating measured traffic flow. Traffic flow statuses are represented by colour-coded display for specific ranges of vehicle speed & vehicle count. Colour coded display on the Motorway can indicate different traffic situation (e.g. free flowing traffic, congested or stopped traffic etc).
  • View speed, occupancy, headway and the real-time traffic data for the selected Road Section, TMU or Lane.
  • Analysis on the “Dashboard” which shows the traffic volume & average vehicle speed for predefined sections of the motorway.
